New to Kayaking? Learn from the pros at Kayak Academy at our Intro to Kayaking lessons!

- Bring extra clothes to leave in your car.
What we provide:
- PFD-lifejacket. Everyone is required to wear one.
Intro to Kayaking – Part 1
- When should I buy a kayak?
- What gear do I need to go with my kayak?
Get your feet wet – literally. Learn and try launching and landing techniques for one-person sea kayaks. Practice: paddling forward and backward, steering, and stopping. This class is open to beginners and first time kayakers.
Duration: 30 minutes
Classes will run all day, departing each hour and fill on a fist come basis. Last class starts one hour before the close of the show.
Cost: Included with the purchase of a $10 on-water demo wristband and sign a release of liability form. Then sign up for the class at the Discover Paddling area. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Intro to Kayaking – Part 2
Participants of this class will practice the forward stroke and then proceed to bracing, balance, steering and maneuvering skills followed by safety skills if time permits. (Participation in the FREE Part 1 – Intro to Kayaking On-water Instruction, or equivalent, is strongly recommended prior to participation in part – 2. Sign up for FREE Part 1 is at the event.)
Duration: 45 minutes
Cost: $30 (registration includes a wristband, $10 value, for all on-water activities, register for your time below)
